Summer of Prayer

How It Works /  FAQ

OVERVIEW
Summer of Prayer is a congregational prayer initiative running from June 1 through September 8. The idea is simple: small groups of three people from The Bridge / DGT — prayer trios — commit to meeting together about ten times over the summer to pray for one another, for our church, and for what God has ahead for us.
Each session follows a simple one-page guide that gives your group a focus, some Scripture, and a few prompts to pray through together. Sessions typically take 60–90 minutes. After each one, your group submits a short reflection form so we can track how the summer is going and gather a picture of what God is saying across the whole church.
The summer closes with a celebration gathering in October where we'll share stories, reflect on what God did, and look together at what emerged from 100 days of seeking him.
What exactly is a prayer trio?
A prayer trio is simply a group of three people who commit to meeting together to pray. There's no formal leadership role, no teaching preparation, no agenda beyond the one-page session guide we provide. Every group is equal — three people showing up for God and for each other.
What is the Orientation Gathering?
Before the 100 days officially begin, all trio participants will gather together for an Orientation Gathering — a brief, focused evening where we'll walk through how the process works, answer questions, sign covenants, and pray together as a full cohort before everyone disperses into their trios. Think of it as the starting line. Details on date, time, and location will be communicated to everyone who signs up.
How do I find two other people to be in a trio with me?
You're welcome to invite two people you already know at The Bridge / DGT. But if you'd rather we handle the connections, just sign up and let us know — we'll place you in a group by early June. Either way works. See the sign-up form for guidelines on forming a healthy trio.
How often do we need to meet?
Ten times over 100 days works out to roughly once every week and a half. Your group chooses when and where. Some groups will meet weekly; others will spread sessions out more. What matters is that you complete all ten sessions before the 100 days ends.
Where do we meet?
Wherever works for your group — a home, a coffee shop, a church classroom, a back porch. There's no requirement to meet at the church building.
How long are the sessions?
Most groups find that 60–90 minutes is about right, though some sessions may run a little longer depending on where the conversation goes. The one-page guide is designed to give you structure without rushing you.
Do I need to be an experienced pray-er to participate?
Not at all. The session guides are designed to be accessible to anyone, regardless of how comfortable you are with prayer. If sitting quietly and talking honestly with God is something you're willing to try, you're ready.he description goes.
What if our group falls behind?
Life happens. If your group misses a session or two, don't quit — just pick back up. If you find your group is consistently struggling to connect, reach out to us and we'll help. The goal is ten sessions completed, not a perfect streak.
What is the Mid-Discernment Gathering?
Around Day 50 — approximately mid-July — all trio participants will come back together for a Mid-Discernment Gathering. This is more than a check-in. It's a congregational prayer and dialogue event where we'll share what God has been doing in our trios, encourage one another, and pray together as a full group. It's one of the most meaningful moments of the whole initiative — the point where the summer starts to feel like something God is genuinely doing across the whole church, not just in individual living rooms. Plan to be there.
What is the discernment reflection form?
After each session, one person from your group submits a short form letting us know you met and sharing a few brief reflections — things that came up in prayer, Scripture that felt significant, anything your group sensed God saying. This helps us stay connected to how the summer is going and, at the end of the 100 days, gives us a remarkable picture of what God has been speaking across the whole church. It feeds directly into the vision story we'll share at the October celebration.
What happens at the October celebration?
We'll gather for a shared meal, hear stories from trios about what God did over the summer, and Pastor Jeff will present a vision story drawn from the patterns that emerged across all the discernment reflections. It's a culminating moment for the whole initiative — and one we're already looking forward to.
